Barbera to attempt Indy comeback

Hector Barbera will attempt to return from injury and ride the Pramac Ducati MotoGP bike at Indianapolis despite the team announcing last week that Toni Elias would once again substitute for the Spaniard.

Barbera broke his fibula and tibula in a training crash four weeks ago, and was forced to miss Laguna Seca as a consequence, with the team drafting in Elias.

The 2010 Moto2 champion looked set to keep his Pramac substitute role this weekend at Indianapolis, but Barbera will now take control in Friday’s first free practice session in order to evaluate his fitness.

Elias will be on hand to replace Barbera should discomfort from his injuries prove too great.
