ARK Performance Tunes the Hyundai Genesis Coupe R-Spec for the 2012 SEMA Show

Once again, Hyundai has employed ARK Performance to transform the Genesis Coupe R-Spec into the track-ready Super Tuner Track Model for the 2012 SEMA show. Much like the ARK Track Time Attack Genesis coupe from the 2010 SEMA show and the ARK-equipped Veloster from 2011, the Super Tuner Track Model is loaded up with numerous aftermarket performance parts. Horsepower is boosted from 348 to 395, while torque goes from 295 to 340. That is an increase of 47 hp and 45 lb-ft of twist.

These gains are accomplished with the use of ARK’s intake system, oil cooler, lightweight pulley kit, ECU tune, and a 4.2 stroker kit, which includes new pistons, crankshaft, connecting rods, and ceramic-coated headers. But, like any good track car, modifications don’t end there.

To put the power down, a Cusco type RS 1.5/2-way limited-slip differential, carbon-plate clutch kit, and dual-mass flywheel are installed.

ARK fitted its own coil-overs and Cusco suspension bars, arms, and control rods to replace of the car’s stock parts. A six-piston big brake kit was put on all four corners with ARK carbon brake pads and stainless-steel brake lines. The car sits on Yokohama ADVAN RS2s wrapped in Nitto NT05 rubber.

Some weight was shed with the use of a carbon-fiber hood and decklid. The hood also features heat extractor vents to keep things cool. Aerodynamics were improved with a rear diffusor, front splitter, and carbon wing. Fender flares give the car a wider stance.

The interior was not forgotten in this Genesis overhaul. ARK gives this SEMA car a JPM Coachworks custom interior with Sparco racing seats and steering wheel. An eight-point roll cage buttresses the cockpit.
