Jordan lowers benchmark at Brands

Andrew Jordan Brands Hatch BTCCAndrew Jordan topped the second British Touring Car free practice session on the Brands Hatch GP circuit.

The Eurotech Honda driver was quickest on the drying track heading into the final few minutes before a whole series of improvements shuffled the order.

The session had been red flagged to recover Tony Hughes’s Speedworks Toyota Avensis and was restarted for the final 10 minutes.

Tom Onslow-Cole’s WSR BMW pushed Jordan off of top spot, but Jordan responded to post a 1m31.765s, leaving his NGTC Civic over 0.6 seconds clear of the field.

Rob Collard also improved late on to make it a two-three for WSR, while Jason Plato’s works MG was fourth, setting his best at the flag, a second off Jordan.

Eurotech’s Jeff Smith, who at one stage was second to Jordan, ended up fifth, from works Honda drivers and title challengers Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden.

BTCC newcomer Aaron Williamson was 18th in Tony Gilham’s S2000 Honda Civic.
