Pedrosa undone by chatter
Honda must work on easing its chattering issues in time for Sunday’s Malaysian Grand Prix, according to title challenger Dani Pedrosa.
The Spaniard, victorious in four of the last five races, said he was plagued by the issue throughout qualifying, although to varying degrees depending on which tyres he used.
Despite his struggles Pedrosa still managed to qualify second, less than two tenths down on his championship rival Jorge Lorenzo.
“We had quite a lot of chattering, and I don’t know why really because [with] some tyres it was more,” he explained.
“On the last tyres even on the straight it was [chattering]… the tyre didn’t feel round.
“It’s not a good feeling like this and very difficult to make a laptime, but we were still able to make the front row, so second is good.
“The pace is high and after missing FP2 yesterday because of the mixed conditions, this morning we worked hard on the race pace.
“The bike was hard to ride though, I just hope that we don’t have this chattering for the race.”
