Hill tests Motorbase Ford

Hill tests Motorbase FordTeenagers Jake Hill and Tom Grainger made their British Touring Car test debuts with Motorbase Performance at Brands Hatch this week.

Hill, 18, finished seventh in the BTCC-supporting Ginetta G55 Supercup despite missing the opening three rounds. He took his maiden win in the category at Snetterton.

Grainger, also 18, began racing cars this year and won the club-level MG Metro Cup.

Both drove S2000 Ford Focuses, like the one taken to victory at Brands Hatch on the final day of the 2012 season by Aron Smith, and were joined on-track by Smith and Mat Jackson in the team’s newer NGTC-spec machines.

“We’ve given a couple of young drivers, at different stages of their careers, a chance to sample a touring car,” said team principal David Bartrum.

“We’re a Kent-based team and these are two young lads from Kent. It’s our duty to give them a chance to get some exposure. Neither of them is short of talent, just finance.”

“It was great to see them out there on track today with Mat and Aron.”
