Senna expects to benefit from rain

Bruno SennaBruno Senna believes a wet Brazilian Grand Prix could give him an excellent chance of bring his 2012 campaign to a strong end.

The Williams driver will start 11th at Interlagos. He is considered unlikely to keep his seat for 2013, with reserve driver Valtteri Bottas expected to be promoted to the race team alongside Pastor Maldonado.

“I’m looking forward to the race in any conditions,” declared Senna. “It’s my home race and I think I want to put on a good show for the people watching and if it’s going to be wet we’ll see more shuffling of the cars and perhaps we can be the winner. Let’s hope we get the advantage on that.”

He believes his form in the wet so far in the 2012 Formula 1 season bodes well should rain arrive.

“I think we have the opportunity to be quick in the wet,” Senna said.

“Let’s see how wet it is, because when it’s really wet – too wet – it because a lottery.

“But it gives me confidence that we were competitive in Malaysia as the Tarmac is similar in terms of roughness. But the type of track is different. So we’ll have to see what happens. It could be good.”

Senna added that the fact he was on home turf for this crucial race would help him rather than increasing the pressure.

“When I was in an uncompetitive car and I was really struggling, when I got to the grid I saw a massive support from the crowd,” he said.

“They were extremely supportive and that support has just grown from 2010 to now. So it’s important to give something back to them and have a good race.”
