Wehrlein stays on with Mucke

Pascal Wehrlein Pascal Wehrlein will remain with Mucke Motorsport for this year’s Formula 3 European Championship.

The 18-year-old German has spent his entire single-seater career with the squad, winning the ADAC Formel Masters title in 2011 before stepping up to F3 last year and taking a shock runner-up spot in the Euro Series.

Wehrlein will partner series rookies Mitchell Gilbert and Roy Nissany, both of whom raced in Germany last year.

“We are happy to continue the successful collaboration with Pascal,” said team principal Peter Mucke said.

“And we’ll to our best to ensure that he can fight for the championship.”

Wehrlein, who complemented his Euro Series runner-up spot with fourth in the European championship in 2012, is aiming for nothing less than the title.

“I am really looking forward to take the next step with Mucke Motorsport,” he said.

“In the second half of last year we were the strongest team and we want to maintain that.

“I want to fight about the title and win as many races as possible.”

Although Wehrlein’s signing completes Mucke’s three-car line-up, AUTOSPORT understands that the team could announce a fourth entry as early as next week.
