Alex Bowman and the #99 RAB Racing, St. Jude Children’s Research Toyota Camry came into the AAA Auto Club Speedway with high hopes and a familiar car, but didn’t get the finish they had targeted. After qualifying in the 6th position and running in the top 5 most of the day, a pit road collision and a late race brush with the wall relegated the team to a 12th place finish.

Alex Bowman: “We had a great Toyota Camry all race long and I was able to drive through the field with ease, we definitely had the speed to run upfront. I came into the pits with about 50 laps to go and just overshot the pit stall. That put us back in the pack and I just couldn’t recover and get back to the front. Chris Rice put a great car under me and I have to thank everyone back at the shop at RAB Racing for building great cars, with a lot of speed. We had a chance with a late race restart but brushed the wall after being in traffic and that threw off the handling for the remainder of the race. At least our speedway program is strong and that excites me for Texas Motor Speedway in two weeks.
