Bacheta joins Zele in Auto GP

Luciano Bacheta 2011 GP3

Formula 2 champion Luciano Bacheta has sealed a switch to Auto GP with Zele Racing.

The 22-year-old Briton tested for GP2 team Russian Time last week at Barcelona, but has instead opted to race in Auto GP, which is introducing a heavily-upgraded car this year.

Series boss Enzo Coloni said: “The Auto GP family warmly welcomes a valuable new addition to its roster.

“Luciano Bacheta is an experienced driver and I think he will find himself well-suited with one of our powerful racecars.

“Zele Racing is fully prepared to support him in the best possible way throughout the season.”

Prior to his title-winning F2 campaign, which netted him a day in a Williams Formula 1 car at Silverstone last year, Bacheta raced in GP3 and the Formula Renault Eurocup. He was the runner-up in the latter series in 2010.
