WEC opener field increases to 35 cars
The entry for the 2013 World Endurance Championship opener at Silverstone next month has been bolstered to 35 by the addition of three cars.
The 32 full-season WEC entrants are joined by a third works Morgan-Nissan LMP2, in addition to the already-announced second Rebellion Racing Lola-Toyota B12/60 LMP1 and the Chinese KCMG team’s Nissan-powered OAK P2.
OAK team owner Jacques Nicolet is so far the only confirmed driver in the third works Morgan.
Rebellion is fielding two cars in the opening three rounds of the WEC up to and including the Le Mans 24 Hours. It has confirmed one entry for the remaining five rounds, but has left the door open on running two of its Lola coupes.
KCMG, the first Chinese team to gain an entry for Le Mans, will contest the Silverstone and Spa WEC rounds ahead of the 24 Hours in addition to its campaign in the new-for-2014 Asian Le Mans Series
Former Super GT driver Alexandre Imperatori, who was announced at KCMG in February, will be joined at Silverstone by Brit Matt Howson, who raced with the team in Japanese Formula 3 last year and Chinese driver Jim Ka To.
