Just one Ferraris entry for next rounds
Romeo Ferraris will slim down to a single-car entry for Gary Thompson at this weekend’s Formula 3 European Championship round at Silverstone.
The Mercedes-powered team ran Irishman Thompson alongside Michela Cerruti at the Monza season-opener last month.
But with Cerruti on Blancpain Endurance Series duty at Monza this weekend as part of her role as a BMW Italy driver, the team has opted just to run Thompson.
Team manager Dario Calzavara told AUTOSPORT: “Michela has some official engagements for BMW Italia; this weekend at Monza in Blancpain, and also in Italian GTs.
“She will miss the next round at Hockenheim too because there is an Italian GT race at Monza on the same weekend. But she will be back for Brands Hatch.”
Calzavara said that he expects ex-Japanese F3 racer Thompson, who signed a last-minute deal to race for the team at Monza, to produce a much-improved performance at Silverstone.
“Since Monza we had the car back at the workshop and discovered some things with the set-up that were not quite right.
“We have fixed those so I don’t expect those problems to happen again. We should be much more competitive.”
