Karel Abraham again makes elite top ten
Karel Abraham finished a thrilling race in Aragon in a fantastic ninth place. After starting fourteenth on the grid, Karel worked his way towards the front: first past de Puniet and Espargaro from team Aspar, and then overtaking Hector Barbera, astride the same Ducati motorcycle as the Czech rider. The race was won by Spaniard Dani Pedrosa on the Honda, with current championship leader Jorge Lorenzo finishing second. At the start of the race Nicky Hayden suffered a dramatic crash on the Ducati: a collision with the safety barrier saw him thrown clear onto the service road.

“I’m happy with how the race went: I quite enjoyed the race itself and ended up with a good result. I’m a bit upset I couldn’t keep up with Valentino Rossi, who caught us up after a mistake at the start of the race. He was simply going quicker, and to try and keep up with him would have been too dangerous. I gave it a try at first, but I braked too late on one bend was forced to run off; fortunately I stayed on the tarmac, so I returned behind de Puniet and Espargaro, and then overtook them once again.”

“After our bad luck at the last race meeting, today’s result was encouraging. After the warm up, we changed the set up on the bike to increase grip on the front tire – and it paid off. Karel was satisfied, the front end of the bike held up well, and we raced consistent times that matched the best we achieved over the weekend. I think that to come in ninth from fourteenth place start is the best we could have achieved. Karel had the entire race under control: he kept a close eye on his group and made sure he was the first of those riders to finish.”
