Sato gets Euronova Auto GP seat
Kimiya Sato will graduate to Auto GP this season with Vicenzo Sospiri’s Euronova team.
The 23-year-old Japanese driver has raced in various Formula 3 series since 2009, taking third place in last year’s German standings.
Sato tested for Euronova last winter alongside countryman Yoshitaka Kuroda. Former Formula 1 racer Taki Inoue is collaborating with Euronova to give Japanese drivers opportunities in the series.
“I’m very happy to have Kimiya join our team,” said Sospiri. “He was very impressive in testing at Barcelona last month and I am sure that we will be at the front this season.”
Euronova took two Auto GP wins last season with Russian teenager Sergey Sirotkin, who has switched to Formula Renault 3.5 this year.
