Featured Tool: BikeMaster Tire Repair Kit

This week’s featured tool is the BikeMaster Tire Repair Kit with piston-style plug insertion tool. With this kit, you can perform permanent professional-level tire repairs in your own garage, or even on the road. The kit comes with the latest design of BikeMaster’s handy plug insertion tool, which has more leverage than older piston grip insertion tool designs, as well as everything else you need to complete the tire repair procedure including plugs, an awl, rubber cement, and a trimming knife.

To use this handy time and money saving tool, simply screw the awl into the plug insertion tip, insert the combo into the puncture, unscrew the awl and remove it (leaving the insertion tip inserted into the puncture), apply rubber cement to the sides of one of the included rubber plugs, insert the plug into the insertion tip (large end down), screw the head of the insertion gun into the insertion tip, squeeze the handle of the insertion gun together (forcing the plug through the insertion tip), remove the insertion gun and tip from the tire (which will reveal the tail of the rubber plug sticking out of the puncture hole), and then trim the exposed tail of the plug using the trimming knife. It’s as simple as that (check out the video below for a step-by-step demonstration). This quick and easy procedure will permanently repair your tire from the damage caused by a simple puncture such as a nail hole, and extend the useful life of your tire.

This tool works great for all kinds of powersports tires, from street/sport tires, to dirtbike tires, to ATV tires, and with everything you need to fix a flat included in a convenient hard plastic carrying and storage case, you can even take this tool with you on those long trips and off-road adventures to make sure you can permanently fix your tires in the event of a puncture on a lonely back road or in the desolate backwoods. (If you plan to use this tool while on the road, be sure to also include a CO2 inflator, a hand pump or a compact air compressor with your emergency kit, as this tool does not come with any kind of inflation tool.)
