Richard Childress Racing Front Row At Charlotte Motor Speedway

NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) point’s leader Elliott Sadler claimed the pole for tonight’s Dollar General 300 at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway. Sadler in his final races of driving the No. 2 OneMain Financial Chevrolet Impala for Richard Childress Racing (RCR) edged leading rookie and teammate Austin Dillon for the top-spot at the 1.5-mile oval.

Joey Logano will look for yet another NASCAR Nationwide Series win of the year (eighth of the season) from inside row number two (position – three) in his No. 20 GameStop / Call of Duty Black Ops II Toyota Camry. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. In search of his second consecutive championship will start fourth in his Roush Fenway Racing Ford.

Kevin Harvick making a rare NASCAR Nationwide Series start for Richard Childress Racing will start fifth. Kyle Busch pulling a triple-header racing weekend will start sixth followed by Brian Scott in the No. 11 Dollar General Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing in seventh.

JGR teammate Denny Hamlin in the No. 18 also carrying back from title sponsor Dollar General will start eighth with Penske Racing teammates Brad Keselowski and Sam Hornish Jr. comprising the remainder of the top-10 starters.

Danica Patrick in a fluorescent pink No. 7 GoDaddy.org Chevrolet Impala qualified a strong 11th with other notable top-20 starters including John Wes Townley a.k.a “Chicken Man” (12th), Michael Annett (13th), Brad Sweet (15th), Turner Motorsports teammate Justin Allgaier (16th), Jeremy Clements a solid 17th, followed by James Buescher, Cole Whitt and Jason Bowles to close out the top-20.

Whitt is in a back-up No. 88 Hellman’s Chevrolet Impala after a parts failure sent him into the wall during yesterday’s final practice effort. Bowles however is welcoming back Thrush & Son and Hi-Technologies back as a sponsor since Kentucky Speedway a few weeks ago.

Kyle Fowler and Ryan Blaney were 21st and 22nd respectively with Stanton Barrett, an early pole sitter at Charlotte eventually landing 23rd in his first NASCAR start since Homestead-Miami Speedway last November. Barrett was also the leading driver for Rick Ware Racing.

Jeffrey Earnhardt making an in-frequent start in the NASCAR Nationwide Series posted the 28th quickest lap in the No. 39 Uponor Ford Fusion for Go Green Racing (GGR). Reed Sorenson returns to the starting lineup tonight driving the No. 98 Carroll Shelby Motor s Ford Mustang for Fred Biagi.

Angela Cope making her first start since the highly publicized race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway qualified her Toyota Camry 35th. It will be Cope’s final start of the season and she has made it abundantly clear she would like to avoid any “drama” tonight at CMS.

Mike Wallace in the No. 01 GK Services Chevrolet Impala spun during his initial qualifying lap but did not hit anything. He still posted a lap for his JD Motorsports with Gary Keller but was only 40th quickest.

Robert Richardson Jr. and Tony Raines whom are both carrying new logos this weekend on their machines respectively will bring up the rear of the field. Richardson Jr. is supporting BrysonsFuel.org while Raines in his collboartive effort with ML Motorsports is hoisting Nice Fries.

Drivers missing the show tonight include: T.J. Bell in his MAKE Motorsports return, Joey Gase for Means Racing, Matt Carter for Rick Ware Racing and Morgan Shepherd for Shepherd Racing Ventures.

Today is Shepherd’s 71st birthday but experienced ignition issues with his No. 89 Chevrolet thus not being able to turn a lap in qualifying which eventually sent him to the house.

Tonight’s Dollar General 300 is slated to begin shortly after 7:30 p.m. (estimated green flag is 7:48 p.m.) with live coverage on ESPN, PRN and SiriusXM Satellite Radio (Channel 90).
